Kapilvastu Integrated Development Services (KIDS) established as a NGO in Kapilvastu District on 31st August, 2005 and is affiliated with Social Welfare Council on 20 March, 2007. KIDS was established by the local community people with the purpose of providing services to local communities with the vision of “Healthy, inclusive and prosperous society with full of peace and equal justice” KIDS has general assembly, represented by Dalit, Janjati, Madhesi, Muslims, Women, Adolescents, PLHA (People living with HIV/AIDS) and socially excluded groups with executive committee. Currently KIDS is headed by Muslim Madhesi Women. KIDS is governed by its constitution, by laws, Policies i.e., Admin/finance, Human resource, GESI, safeguard, anti-corruption policy, assets safeguard policy, IT policy, operating guidelines and monitoringplan. Annual audits are conducted by independent auditors. Organization has its own Conflict of Interest Policy to avoid and resolve the governance and operational difficulties or issues.
KIDS prepares its Annual Work plan and budget, which General Assembly approves on annual basis. The organization has experience on successfully program implementation provincial level as well as district/ Municipal level in various sectors i.e., Health (SRHR, Family Planning, Adolescents and Youth Friendly health Services, Malaria, TB, HIV&AIDS), Water & Sanitation, Food Security, Poverty alleviation, Nutrition, Education, Climate Change, Women empowerment.
KIDS has working experience with different provincial/ districts and local level authorities and currently implementing programs in 11 districts under Lumbini Province (Kapilvastu, Rupandehi ,Nawalparasi (West), Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Palpa, Pyuthan , Arghakhanchi, Rolpa, Rukum east) 4 districts under Karnali Province (Dailekh, Kalikot, Salyan and Surkhet) and Gandaki Province (Kaski, Tanhau and Nawalpur) in past.
Key Objectives:
1. Assist sustainable livelihoods and economic security of poor and marginalized groups and communities through knowledge enrichment and skills development;
2. Build community support and collaborate to enhance access of poor and vulnerable citizens to social services, including education, health and livelihoods;
3. Capacitate and support to strengthen system for appropriate provision of quality education, public health, nutrition and agriculture services;
4. Deepen access to safe water, proper sanitation and hygiene;
5. Enable women, children, adolescents, youth, senior citizens and people with disability to enjoy their rights by helping them in reducing domestic, gender-based and social violence;
6. Foster capacity of communities and stakeholders to address factors associated with climate change for promotion, conservation and protection of environment, including ancient arts and culture;
7. Groom communities and stakeholders for disaster management works, including risk reduction, response, mitigation and preparedness;
8. Have necessary advocacy for promotion of social justice, equitable access, equality and good governance.
